This book screams summer in the calmest way possible. I love the relaxed pace. This really is a beautiful example of a rhythmic picture book, and who doesn’t want fresh scones and a good book to fish!

Like I said, my neck of the woods has certainly grown hot lately. If you’re feeling the heat too, you may just want to feel cool by reading about interesting ways that animals stay cool. I love this addition to a home library–especially in the summer!

Swimmy by Leo Lionni

Swimmy - by Leo Lionni, 1 of 2

I’m a big fan of Leo Lionni’s work. His children’s books truly immerse readers into a new world, and this can definitely be said for Swimmy. Dive into the ocean with Swimmy and learn about courage and teamwork.

This book is so fun. Steve Metzger creates an exciting world of ice cream that kids will enjoy. Who doesn’t want to rule an ice cream kingdom!
