A List of Children’s Books to Read in July

Well, this has certainly been an interesting July. With hurricanes and extreme heat, this has been a month of weather to remember.

If you’re working to help your children keep or further their reading skills, or just looking for something to do during the summer months, below is a list of children’s books to read with the family.

I added a weather book, because it just seemed relative. 🙂

Happy reading!

Ready, Set… WAIT!

written by Patti R. Zelch and illustrated by Connie McLennan

What an interesting take on hurricane-preparedness. Readers will take a dive into the animal world and find out how they prepare for a hurricane. I enjoy the more lifelike illustrations that accompany this book as well as the pleasing and educational text.

Summer Song

written by Kevin Henkes and illustrated by Laura Dronzek

Henkes’ lyrical text is full of summer whimsy, and Dronzek’s illustrations, with their bold hues, are absolutely eye-catching. This book is a summer must-have!

Teeny Sweeney and the Mustache Cash

written by Amberly Kristen Clowe and illustrated by Janet Samuel

Did I include my children’s chapter book on this month’s list? Mayyybeee. 🙂 Let’s face it, school is probably just a few weeks away for the kiddos. Teeny’s wild story and school project is a pretty fun way to inspire school excitement in kids. Janet Samuel’s illustrations are seriously top-notch. There are SO many interesting details in each picture.

George Muller: The Guardian of Bristol’s Orphans

written by Janet and Geoff Benge

This book is such a family treat. Readers will be encouraged by Muller’s life of selfless living and how God blessed him and the orphans in his care. I’m a huge fan of this series.
