What’s Five Minute Friday about?
**Do you ever find yourself wishing you could add scripture to your day? What about your child’s day? And if your anything like me, your days are already totally maxed out on time.
Then you’ve come to the right place.
This blog is for that uber-busy parent who could truly benefit from a five minute Bible lesson with your child. Yes, these lessons are literally five minutes long and posted weekly.
That’s something I can get excited about.**
Materials:
Bible
Coin
Lesson:
Before the lesson, hide a coin in the room. After prayer, tell your child that you have hidden a coin. Let him spend a minute or two in search. After he finds the “lost coin,” read Luke 15:8-10. I recently taught this lesson in our AWANA K-2 group. It was such a blessing to me. The kids really enjoyed finding their coins. We talked about the meaning of a “parable” and how Jesus often used these stories to teach lessons. Remind your child that this is Jesus speaking. Walk through the meaning of the verses. Even though this woman had many coins, she swept her house to find a single lost one. Our group discussed how with every Bible lesson, with every song and sermon, Jesus is searching for us. And like the woman who rejoiced with her neighbors after she found the coin, the angels rejoice when a person repents to God. We had one of those special moments. The Holy Spirit’s presence was palpable as we talked about Heaven celebrating. Kids understand a party. They understand joy. And they really seemed to understand this parable. I pray that this lesson is a blessing to you and your sweet family.
Happy searching, and as always, happy reading!
