Welp, it’s that time again–school!
After you ponder just where the summer went (like I’m doing), enjoy this fun reading list that will help those kiddos jump back into the swing of things.
I’m including a variety of elementary-aged series, from picture books to early readers and middle grade.
1. The Pigeon (Picture Book Series)
Every book in this series is rad, including Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! This book is WORN in my household. We giggle. We re-read. We enjoy. Even older kids can’t help but laugh at the pigeon’s drama.
2. Calvin and Hobbes (Middle Grade Comic Strip Series)
My goodness, the antics in these stories. They are always good for a laugh, and the vocabulary, you guys, does not disappoint!
3. Teeny Sweeney (Early Chapter Book Series)
Total disclaimer: Yes, this is a series that I write, but I really do think your kids will enjoy it. With tons of one-liners and silliness, it may be just what your kids need to kick-off their reading this year!
4. House of Robots (Middle Grade Series)
I really am a fan of this series by James Patterson. The characters are aplenty and uber-creative. Kids will enjoy the zaniness of it all and probably forget they’re reading.
5. If You Give (Picture Book Series)
These books are always great fun. I adore the whole “and then” idea. The craziness seems to go on forever. These stories are endearing and with gorgeous illustrations. The lessons and projects that can stem from these books can also go on forever.
6. Click Clack (Picture Book Series)
I am a total sucker for this series and its barnyard animals, especially duck. That personality of his! I also love that there are quite a few holiday books in the series. A holiday book is something extra special to me.
7. Bad Kitty (Early Chapter Book Series)
These books are super creative, and the mixture of art and words is executed to perfection. This series is perfect for children who are between picture books and lengthier chapter books. Also, kids LOVE Bad Kitty and his outrageous behavior.
