We are celebrating Mom with May’s list of children’s books. Enjoy these wonderful reads with your kiddos this month!
What Not to Give Your Mom on Mother’s Day by Martha Simpson
A young boy is sharing some great advice in this story, like, “Don’t give your mom a bunch of flies unless she’s a spider.” That sounds like a great tip to me. This is a really cute way to discuss moms and the upcoming Mother’s Day, and kids will enjoy the silliness and fun creatures.
T. Rex and the Mother’s Day Hug by Lois G. Grambling
This is another fun story about what to get Mom for Mother’s Day, but this one is dinosaur-style. Kids love everything dinosaur, and Grambling’s book will be no exception to this. Also, Davis’s illustrations are top-notch.
Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
Munsch’s story is a classic for a reason. It’s a beautiful celebration of the love between a mom and a child. I love the repeated,
“I’ll love you forever
I’ll like you for always
As long as I’m living
My baby you’ll be.”
I Love Mom with The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
You can’t go wrong with Eric Carle. Like usual, the illustrations are fantastic and so Carle. The story is truly precious with this one, also. Mom does some really great things on-the-regular, and this book celebrates all of those hard-working everyday displays of love
Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman
I may have saved my favorite Mother’s Day book for last. Okay, I definitely did. I can not tell you how many times my children and I have read this story. I lost count. The illustrations are precious, and the story is heartwarming. Baby Bird is on a search for his mom, and he is going to find her. This is a must-have for Mother’s Day.
