Four Christmas Picture Books Worth Reading

Posted on December 22, 2022 by admin

This Christmas break, do your kids have a bit of downtime between fun activities and visits? If so, below is a list of Christmas-themed books my kids and I have recently read. We checked each book out via our online public library, and every book was new to us and seriously good.

  1. Bear’s First Christmas

OMGoodness, the illustrations in this book, you guys. Wow, I am always so blown away when I stumble upon art like Jim LaMarche’s. The author, Robert Kinerk, does a beautiful job plucking you from your world and carrying you away to his. This book is truly beautiful.

2.  What Cat Wants for Christmas

This book had me laughing-out-loud the whole way through. The cat wants fleas for dogs and a new haircut to cover up its ringworm issue. Kandy Radzinski, the author and illustrator, is so creative with this book. What a hilarious addition to your Christmas shelf.

3. Merry Christmas, Squirrels!

This is another fantastic add to your book list. It is absolute fun to follow Mr. Peanuts and Cousin Squirrel. In the back of the book, I found the information about Nancy Rose, the author, fascinating. She uses little props and convinces real squirrels to use them by hiding nuts inside. That’s awesome!

4. Merry Christmas, Peanut!

I don’t like to pick favorites, but, if I did, this would probably top the list. I laughed and laughed. The story is quirky and full of food humor. By the end, I adored Peanut and his upbeat outlook.

Happy reading!

P.S.

Don’t forget The Night Before Christmas and Itsy Bitsy Christmas. These weren’t new to our family, like those above, but we love to read them!
