The Cringeworthy

Posted on June 28, 2017June 28, 2017 by admin

When I think on some of my favorite warm and fuzzy words, incandescent and whimsy are welcomed to my mind like the gentle breeze at a beach.

However (and that’s a BIG however), there are some words that are downright grimace-inducing. These words and their meanings are strewn together in just the wrong way, and to me, they’re the Frankenstein of words.

My Top Five Cringeworthy Words

  1. Fester

Ewww, am I right? Nothing good ever comes from a fester.

  1. Mucous

I am not at all a fan of having to tell the doctor about my mucous problems. Gross.

  1. Gurgle

This is never a pretty sight.

  1. Scab

Didn’t you squish your face when you read that word?

And my number one cringeworthy word is…

  1. Pus

This word makes my skin crawl. I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to say it. And I can’t even read it without a dramatic, disgusted pause.

Have a wonderful day, and as Maui says “You’re welcome!!”
