Five Minute Friday – In the Name of the Lord

Posted on April 12, 2019 by admin

What’s Five Minute Friday about?
**Do you ever find yourself wishing you could add scripture to your day? What about your child’s day? And if your anything like me, your days are already totally maxed out on time.
Then you’ve come to the right place.
This blog is for that uber-busy parent who could truly benefit from a five minute Bible lesson with your child. Yes, these lessons are literally five minutes long and posted weekly.
That’s something I can get excited about.**

Materials:

Bible

Dirty Dishes (Yes, you read that correctly)

Lesson:

After prayer, read Colossians 3:17. Discuss its meaning. This is no small task, but it is expected of us. You may want to ask your children to name something that feels easy to both complete and be grateful for the ability to do so. I imagine their answers are so interesting. Maybe a soccer game? A choir rehearsal?

Now, what are their thoughts on jobs and activities that are less than fun, yet God still wants us to do in His name and with thankful hearts. Cleaning our rooms? Homework?

Let’s put this into practice, shall we? I don’t know about you, but at our house, there is never a shortage of dirty dishes. For the activity, you and your child can wash the dishes together. As you do, talk about how wonderful it is that you have a kitchen, a place to clean the dishes. What a blessing to have the ability to clean the dishes. How about the food that dirtied the dishes in the first place. How amazing it is that one’s outlook can completely change the task at hand.

I pray that this lesson is a blessing to you and your family.

Happy washing, and as always, happy reading!
