Meet January: Book 1 in The Calendar Kids by April Martin

This series is a fun way to introduce months. I like that January is a person in this book, along with the many mentions of winter and what that often brings. The illustrations are also very eye-catching.

The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats

I had to put The Snowy Day in this list. It’s such a classic. I have always enjoyed the simplicity and joy of this book, as well as the bright illustrations.

The Mitten by Jan Brett

For a book about cold, there sure is a lot of warmth. There is adventure, animals, and an adorable mitten. Brett is a genius at creating an experience with her books. The illustrations are so vivid and unique to Brett.

Skippyjon Jones Snow What by Judy Schachner

I’m a big fan of this series. I think they are so hilarious, creative, and fun to read. Skippyjon Jones is at it again and needing a lot of courage in this story. There may even be a princess. 🙂
